2009 Special Olympics Illinois Youth Leadership Forum

On April 8, 2009, Special Olympics Illinois held a Youth Leadership Forum at Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. The forum was an assembly of more than 100 high school students with and without intellectual disabilities from the Chicago suburbs who are interested in making a difference in their schools and communities through Special Olympics.

Students attended leadership training sessions and interactive experiences to acquire and enhance their knowledge and skills which will support their ability to foster acceptance, respect and advocacy for people with an intellectual disability. Students also had a chance to show off their creative talents through by producing a music video called "One." They also created 3-word videos, posters and T-shirt designs.
